GROWTH WITHOUT GROWING PAINS
Protecting Benton County and the citizens who live here
Everyone deserves a home they can afford:
An average of 38 people are moving to NWA every day, but those who have lived here all their lives can’t afford rent. The luxury housing that’s being built doesn’t help.
I will work to allocate funding from ARPA for rental assistance and push for budget to put towards building affordable housing developments for families.
Preserve our green spaces to benefit everyone:
Our green spaces are not being protected, with many apartments being built by builders who put profits over people – this takes away from our region’s natural beauty and causes issues with erosion/flooding.
I will push to require builders to grade appropriately and utilize native plant species to prevent these issues, as well as re-zone to keep our green spaces free from luxury housing.
Benton County’s jail should not be overcrowded:
Our county jail is constantly above its maximum capacity and the people in jail are living in unacceptable conditions. Our current representatives only offer jail expansion as a solution to the problem. This is a solution our citizens have voted down twice. There are better solutions.
I will work towards approving budgets to improve the conditions as well as establishing community rebuilding initiatives that will free up jail space and focus on rehabilitation.
